Meet our Directors

Andrew Longman

ANDREW LONGMAN – Managing Director

Andrew joined DFL in October 2006, originally as a Senior Lighting Engineer. Now, his main role involves looking after members of the design team — nurturing their technical abilities and providing training, guidance and advice when needed. Andrew’s also responsible for the on-time delivery of projects, quality control and overall customer satisfaction, as well as all procedures that affect the design process.

RICHARD JACKSON – Executive Director

Richard joined DFL in January 2013 as a Lighting Design Engineer. In his current role, Richard handles new business — helping clients understand how DFL can ensure their return on investment. Day to day, Richard deals with everything from small S278 lighting designs to large ‘Invest to Save’ schemes Richard’s passionate about demonstrating the added value DFL brings to projects.

RYAN CARROLL – Associate Director

Ryan is a highly respected voice in the lighting industry, combining technical expertise with a passion for environmentally responsible design. As a past Chair of the Young Lighting Professionals and Associate Director at Designs for Lighting Ltd, Ryan specialises in Lighting Impact Assessments and Planning-led lighting projects. He also plays an active role on the Institution of Lighting Professionals’ Technical Committee.

ALISTAIR SCOTT – Non-Executive Director

Alistair joined DFL in February 2005 as managing director. Now acting as Non-Executive Director, he’s responsible for the strategic direction and the corporate governance of the company. He also oversees staff development and training, encouraging our younger staff who’ve enrolled in the LaMP Academy at DFL. Alistair has had the honour of being president of the ILP and was awarded the ‘Service to Industry Award’ from the HEA in 2013.

Ryan and Richard form our agile and strategic Sales and Business Development team. Ever forward-looking, they are continually identifying new opportunities and forging strong relationships to expand our reach and brighten new possibilities for DFL.

Frankie leads our Marketing and Customer Experience efforts, crafting impactful campaigns and case studies that showcase DFL’s excellence and innovation across the industry.

IT & Process Strategy

Martyn, our IT Manager, ensures that our digital infrastructure remains robust and efficient. In addition to driving strategic improvements, he often joins forces with Fil to support hands-on initiatives, including LED upgrades and system enhancements.

Business Support

Peter, our Finance and HR Manager, oversees the financial and operational wellbeing of the business. From maintaining fiscal responsibility to cultivating a supportive workplace, he plays a pivotal role in balancing both numbers and people.

Fran is our operational linchpin – keeping schedules aligned, workflows efficient, and contributing her trademark excellence across every aspect of support. Her attention to detail and ability to bring clarity to complexity ensure that no task is left unfinished.
