Well done to Ryan and Paul from our design team! They’ve gained ECUK accreditation and ILP membership upgrades.

Paul Southcombe has 21 years experience working in the lighting industry. This helped him excel in the ILP Exterior Lighting Diploma. He achieved Distinction in the Diploma, which enabled him to gain AMILP and EngTech status. He put enormous effort into his Module 4 project report and we understand that the ILP are now searching for new premises in which to house the report!

By contrast, Ryan Carroll is a relative newcomer to the industry. He’s one of the few Lighting Professionals who chose lighting as a career, studying for a lighting design degree. Ryan has progressed in both experience, knowledge and competence at DfL, in a short period of time. This combined with his representation of the YLP on the Technical Committee, ensured his progression to IEng and MILP.

Technical Director, Andrew Longman stresses how important these qualifications are, when quality in lighting design is in short supply, ‘over recent years DfL has been committed to raising the level of competency within the industry. I am delighted that the hard work that Paul and Ryan have put in, has been rewarded by these achievements.’

Managing Director, Alistair Scott added that “a strong design team is vital in our increasingly competitive industry. DfL is showing our commitment to the ILP and to design competence with 3 Chartered Engineers, 2 Incorporated Engineers and 3 Engineering Technicians” .
